PGCMC Thanks Our Sponsors, Elected Officials and the Community for A Successful Fundraiser

On Sunday, October 19th over 200 members of the Muslim community joined several Prince George’s County elected officials at the annual fundraiser of the Prince George’s County Muslim Council. This year the event was held at the Prince George’s Ballroom in Landover, Maryland.

The fundraiser was a wonderful success, filled with warmth, laughter, and a sense of community. From the moment guests arrived, the spacious venue set the tone for an enjoyable evening. The beautiful décor created a welcoming atmosphere that matched the occasion perfectly. The food was delicious and plentiful and added an extra layer of enjoyment to the night’s festivities.

The evening drew a large and diverse crowd, showing strong community support for the cause. The lineup of speakers kept everyone engaged and inspired, sparking meaningful conversations. One of the most exciting parts of the night was the opportunity to meet and connect with our local elected officials. Key speakers included Senator Angela Alsobrooks, County Executive Aisha Braveboy, and State’s Attorney Tara Jackson. PGCMC was also joined by Clerk of the Circuit Court Mahasin El Amin, Sheriff John Carr, State Senator Joanne Benson, County Councilmember Eric Olson, Mayor of College Park Fazlul Kabir, and Laurel Councilmember Jeffrey Mills.

Sheikh Dr. Tahir Wyatt, the keynote speaker, reminded everyone of the importance of being able to meet the moment and how the mission of PGCMC was an obligation on the entire community. Sheikh Hassan Mohamed of Prince George’s Muslim Association led the fundraising efforts that will benefit the work of PGCMC as we enter a critical election year for Prince George’s County and Maryland. It was a night of unity, inspiration, and connection, reminding everyone of the power of coming together for a shared purpose.

Volunteers included several students who have been members of the Emerging County Leaders internship program over the past four years. The students intern in public policy jobs during the summer arranged by the PGCMC Foundation.
