Expanding the Emerging County Leaders Program

Prince George’s County Muslim Council has an internship program entitled, Emerging County Leaders. Through this program we provide paid internships to local college students in the public policy arena at the offices of elected officials, government agencies, legal and media organizations. Last year we placed students in the Offices of Steny Hoyer, Anthony Brown, Muslim Network Television and Senator Ben Cardin. This year we have students slated for the offices of County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, Clerk of the Court Mahasin El Amin, Rep. Glenn Ivey and Muslim Network TV. PGCMC provides a paid stipend to all the students who participate. In 2022, PGCMC provided internships to four students. In 2023, we are hosting six. PGCMC seeks to continue expanding both the number of students each summer as well as the number of organizations as worksites.
